It was a classic duck hunt.

Got there at 5 AM. Drove for 30 minutes and so dusty that one could not see for the vehicle in front. Got out and loaded up. Marsh was dry as a bone going in.

Got to Scott's Pond at Hall's Bayou Ranch. This location is adjacent to Carancahua Bay, Hitchcock, Tx. As and aside, those Karankawa’s had to be bad Azz to exist here.

Got to hunt with my son, grandson, my son’s high school bud, his boy, a friend plus Drake and Henry (the retrievers).

Ten minutes after we get there and set up a front blows through with 25 MPH winds and rain. It is my understanding that there has been 1/10” of rain in the last two months here. No rain was in the forecast so stupid me did not bring rain gear.

Anywho, we piled back in the side by side and turned the windshield into the wind and sat there till the rain slowed down. I was lucky as I was sandwiched between two bodies, and this ol’ fart stayed warm.

The sunrise though late and extended was spectacular. The rain ended about 9 AM and we hunted till 9:30. Got 20 teal.

Went back to the lodge and finished up with a grand breakfast.

Got back home by 11 AM.

Mighty fine.

Good on y'all. Those teal are movers.
Like them tracks on that SXS. I'm gonna go big time one of these days and get some for mine.
Awesome.
Nice day
Teal are excellent table fare!
We hunted the bayou itself on opening morning and got caught in that storm. Got 3 birds and a 25" red. Got 6 birds the last Saturday and no fish, but it was a morning well spent with my nephew. Ya'll run some birds out our way when big duck season starts geedubya.
