As we have no ducks and seem to be in the heart of a real Nebraska Indian summer I decided to go to our lake, pollute the air with my Sharps and wet a line or two. While setting up the gong and target board these two bombers came gracefully in for a landing. My best guess they are the same mated pair that have stopped here the last few years.

Beautiful birds. Hoping the ducks find a reason to head south soon, should be a great year.
Have seen swans several times this fall in different areas of Wyoming.. I am not sure if they are trumpeter swans or tundra..
An easy way to tell?????
Swans are HUGE.

Tundra swans have a yellow spot right in front of the eye which is usually pretty obvious. The voices are very different, also.

Not sure how well the photos caught any potential yellow spots, but I think these would be Trumpeters.
I would say your Indian summer is over. Seeing any ducks passing thru?
Awesome! Cool lookin swans.
