Greetings!! Headed to Newfoundland in a few weeks for a black bear hunt with a group of friends. Flying out of Detroit via Air Canada.

How difficult is traveling with the rifle? Will we have to recollect the firearms in Toronto and clear customs with them?

Appreciate any insight.
Call Canadian Customs and ask what forms you need to bring the rifle into Canada and check what forms the American side will need if any to bring it back. Good hunting . Cheers NC
thanks

Good evening to you sir, hopefully this finds you well.

If you're so inclined, the thread at the top of the section here entitled "Planning a hunt in Canada" is a compilation of excellent links and sources of information that you might find helpful.

All the best luck to you on your bear hunt sir.

You'd best be checking with US customs , they have recently changed the way they do things, although, it may still be in the transition phase, where it can still be done at the border leaving the US. It affects people going anywhere with firearms and ammo, not just to the north. It's another thing that has been around for a while that they have finally got around to. There was a blurb about on the NRA news. And this may help shed some light on it;

On the US side they are still accepting Form 4454. The explanation is on the US Customs and Border Patrol website. Hopefully these new requirements will be written out of the law or modified. On the Canadian side, no changes. Fill out the permit form, sign it and hand them $25.00 Canadian. The will send you the form. It lists prohibited items. NO AR's. No DUI's. You'll need a passport.
Thanks all

Per used the thread and spent some time on the web site
