This post should likely go in the fishing forum but all 3 people that look at it may not know where the Tobique River is.........

My Dad and I are headed up there for a bit of R&R. We're taking a couple of my nephews on a spring bear hunt; Dad and I are the on-site 'guides'. We are going through an outfitter but Dad and I will be guiding these youngsters to there first bear. Its kind of a tradition in our family.

Dad and I are primarily interested in the fishing. He's been there before and they caught a gazillion smallmouths. There is mention of trout in and around the Tobique River. I'm assuming brook trout. I also see landlocked salmon and brown trout are found in New Brunswick.

Can anyone share any info about the fishing in the Tobique River, especially for trout?

Thanks.

Brook Trout and Atlantic salmon are the only trout/salmonoids in the Tobique river. The fishing is a shadow of what it used to be decades ago. Brown trout can be found in the Meduxnekeag river which emptys into the St. John river at Woodstock about 50 miles down river from where the Tobique emptys into the St.John River.
