My wife is into the show. Any thoughts on the show?

Nobody I know watches it.

My wife watches, I think. She does her watching on her computer in the office and leaves me the TV in the den. Is this the show with the somewhat stunning young blonde girl?

Her name is Lauren Thomas. She is a school teacher, a seasonal volunteer for The National Park Service & an avid waterfowler.

All I watch is HNIC. If I did watch the soaps, I would choose Coronation Street. smile

wabigoon;
Good afternoon to you sir - still morning here in BC - but in any case I hope all is well with you and your fine family, whichever side of the medicine line this finds you on.

My good wife and one of our daughters used to watch it - maybe both daughters actually now that I think of it - and they enjoyed it.

It's set on an Alberta dude ranch and tries to mix in enough rural and oil patch content to be remotely authentic. A few of the actors are Albertans too, which doesn't hurt, but in my view it's not as gritty as one finds a typical interaction in Wild Rose country to be.

Now that said, the oil patch crew, well and some of the Alberta rancher crew too for that matter, would engage in stories and vocabulary which would prevent prime time, family viewing, but I digress.... laugh

Oh to my many good friends and family in Alberta - my own sainted Mom was born and raised out of Etzikom and my Grandpa ranged his cattle on Forty Mile Coulee - so by lineage I'm kinda/sorta Albertan too one could say. But no offense is meant in any way to all the Albertan family and friends with my thoughts on the matter. They are just that and nothing more.

Anyway wabigoon, there's surely worse stuff to watch on Canuck TV than Heartland so I'm glad to hear your good wife enjoys it.

All the best to you all as we head into the fall in earnest.

Dwayne

I think there are 2 "Heartland" shows in play here.

My wife has watched every episode lol. Amy the blonde in question is real life Amber Marshall. While I suppose she is attractive, she isn't to me. I think she looks too much like Hilary Clinton. I think she looks more like her than Hilary's own daughter .....

Amber Marshall spent a weekend at our neighbour's campground. She told our friend that she didn't want anyone to know she was there because she didn't want to be bothered by fans. He gave her a quizzical look and asked why that would be problem. She told him she starred on "Heartland". His reply was, "What's that?" He said she seemed slightly miffed at not being recognized. She now realizes that her audience does not include that many male senior citizens. GD

Just another TV show made by Hollywoodized or should I say CBCized directors and producers portraying their own urban notions of ranch lifestyle. Being that it is the CBC I'm expecting one of the characters to come out of the closet or convert to muslim any episode now. However it is a lot more tolerable to watch than reality TV or Dr.Phil type garbage.
