I just purhased one of the last Ruger ultra light Mickey stocks from Rick Bin. It weighs 1 lb 12 oz. It has a short action M77 put into it and the rifle with the 2-7 x 33 VX II weighs 6 lb 12 oz.
The walnut stock that is was in was shortened at both ends, hollowed out everywhere, even the pistol grip, narrowed to the max and still weighed 2 lbs even. I don't think many wooden stock of normal dimensions weigh that little. I have 5 Mickeys and the heaviest is the Sako Hunter which weighs 2 lbs and a few oz average.
I don't think a bedded and floated walnut or other solid wooden stock can hold a candle to the Mickey for consistency.
