This breed intrigues me. Found a reputable breeder in Idaho. Anyone have any experience with this breed?

My buddy had two of them. Methodical and close working . Tough as nails.

I've had good experiences with them. The guys that own them will be along shortly. I don't think I've seen a negative comment on here about them.

Fabulous breed, not much downside. They shed very little, very attentive-rarely aloof; males are the more docile of the sexes.
Great waterdog with double coat and webbed feet. Ton of heart in these dogs.

Great family dog, I've never seen an aggressive grif.

We bred for some years--no longer, and everyone we ever provided with a pup still raves about their dog.

Our male Alf is 13 now, bitch Maggie is 10.

they look so much like Drahthaars...what is the difference?

I hunt with a couple folks that run Griffs. Both AKC dogs and WPGCA lines.
The AKC dogs are stout and hairy. Very methodical, close-working dogs that are hard-headed to a fault. Nice personality, friendly and funny.
The WGPCA dogs are much bigger running dogs, with the energy level to match.
Both lines like to chew, alot. Constructively or otherwise.
Tons of prey drive, very vocal and affectionate.

Have wanted to own one for a long time...
Do their coats require trimming/cutting on a regular basis?

Great dogs!

My girl, Catfish, is 2yo. She has been about perfect. Real good drive without being maniacal. Great nose. Loves to swim. Great watch dog. Great with my 10mo son.

When I got her I spent a good bit of time getting her around birds. Joined NAVHDA and she scored perfect in the NA test. With my wife giving birth last Dec, my fall was kinda shot for hunting and training fell off as well. I'm confident she will get right back into it this year though.

The coat can vary from shaggy fuzz ball to tight and wiry. Needs stripping occasionally, cut out a few mats. Shedding has been minimal, as is dog odor.
