My weim, Lucy, is 5 years old and a great all-around hunting and family dog. She enjoys being at my hip everywhere I go and especially enjoys "helping" me in the garden - she loves vegetables as snacks. It's standard that when I walk by the carrots, I pull her one. As I was putting away the tiller yesterday, I opened the gate to get into the backyard, and as I turned around, I saw her pluck her own carrot out of the patch, toss it in the air and grab the carrot. She pranced out of the patch and laid down with the carrot between her front paws, like normal, and enjoyed her treat. She learned how to pick her own peas off the vine earlier this summer...
My shorthair picked blackberries with me this summer. Once in a while I'd hear a yip as she got a sticker in her mouth.

She did learn it's easier to get them from my bucket.
My Sophie dog's hooked on Cherry Tomatoes. She won't touch anything in the garden but she'll bug ya relentlessly until she get a Tomato.

Sally and Sophie will both raid the berry pail though.
I don't dare set it down and turn my back.
