So that explains it. grin
very cool pics as always GV......and to be fair i thought our jackrabbits were big till seeing those hares....they look like they damn near give your roe buck a run for their money....looks like your GSP's are on the small side like mine, Jake goes maybe 45 pounds(20.4 kilos) at the end of hunting season when i cant keep any fat on him....

I did never put one on a scale but I would say they would easily reach 8 pounds, maybe 12 for the biggest but I couldn't swear it. I would say the average is between 6 & 9.

By far my favorite small game, when hunted with pointing dogs. Love to shoot one between the ears @ 30 - 40 yards and make it roll on its speed.

Very nice dog.

Mine was supposed to be in the lower size compared to the common scale, she's around 50 lbs all year long, though the one with the red collar is smaller, more compact in height and length.

Typical German standard can be huge and very muscular with a long squared nose. I know some males much taller than mine and somewhere around 60 + pounds, along with the Drathaars.

I love those dogs.

By the way, the black & white one is a French "Auvergne's" pointer. Not taller but much more heavy and slower than the GSPs.
most shorthairs i see on this side of the pond run 60-65 pounds when trim.....i get alot of comments on how small Jake is compared to the "normal" over here....when he has a lil fat on him, not overwieght but not running on no body fat that he usually is at the end of the season cause i just cant keep any fat on him no matter what i feed him, he usually holds at about 49 pounds or so give or take one or two....
BTW does your GSP insist on being as much a part of the family as mine? Jake is one of the biggest cry babies ive been around(till i met one of eh76's dogs) and is really unhappy unless he gets to be in the middle of what ever the family is doing....hell his kennel is in the living room so he can keep up with whats going on even if he has to be put away.....
She sleeps in the garage but uses to live in the house with us. She is as lazy in the house as she is powerloaded in the field. Very good familiy dog, patient and friendly with the kids, barks any stranger in the surroundings of the house. But she is a hell of a meat and food thief cool
yeah so long as he stays exercised in the off season he is fine in the house...he gets a lil squirrely if i dont run him regular...well unless you ask my wife cause when ever i leave town he decided its his duty to protect her and follows her around making sure nothing, not even a fly, gets close to her.....sticks to her like glue crazy
Impressions from a driven hunt on Oct 5th

Unusually warm temperatures that didn't make it easier for the dogs. Accordingly we weren't as successful as in past years.

Next one took place on Oct 18th.

Three dogs were injured by wild boars but were quickly medicated by a vet attending the hunt.

And this one took place on Saturday, Oct 19th

This time I was a shooter instead of guiding my dogs and shot a fallow deer.

A friend of mine, good girl and passionate hunter, took my dog instead.
