Thanks for posting that! I really love the Nordic hunting style. You folks have a unique way of hunting that is very enjoyable and very effective. What part of Norway are you located in?

Very nice I enjoyed the film. I did not know you had red deer in Norway.

Do you notice that most of the rifles are old military Mauser 98's and many of them still have the old stepped barrels....8MM probably? Interesting stocks on many of them and all of them have high class glass and mounts. All of them look pretty comfortable outdoors. Great video. I wish I could speak Norwegian.

That is a cool film. Gorgeous country to do anything in, hunt, fish, walk around.

I really enjoyed the film and couldn't help note the lack of those cute little camo costumes so prevalent among American hunters.

Even though I couldn't understand a word of it, I enjoyed it more than any American hunting show I've seen lately, which are little more than a commercial.
Got a kick out the guy shooting deer out of his second story window, at night and with a suppressor.

Thank you; I too enjoyed it. I noticed some older Mausers, a couple of Sauers, Zeiss optics and one Leupold scope along with some "red dots". There seem to be a fair amount of suppressors.

I agree. Certainly captured the camaraderie and spirit of the hunt. One more thing: no camo--who knew?

Here in Sweden not only do we have ample supplies of potato bologna, but suppressors are regarded by most people as good things too.

The jury is split on lutefisk, however.

Suppressors are seen as consideration for your neighbors, and a way to avoid hearing loss.

When I lived in Canada and the USA, I always thought that it was strange that the law treated them like something evil from a 1940's gangster movie.

I hope you get to use them in Iowa with few (or no) restrictions soon.

I do not have a supressor, but I have toyed with the idea of getting one for my .375 Ouch & Ouch -- those moose would never know what hit them!

There is a bill in the legislature at the current time. We will see how it plays out.

As to the film - beautiful country - the scenery, to me, is a huge part of the hunt - I loved the cabins with the sodded roofs - there seemed to be a dearth of paracord slings utilized .

John, I don't know about the suppressors in IA. First I had heard it was under consideration was here on the 'campfire in the general forum. They certainly make sense in some ways but seem a bit impractical in others; I.e, I understand they are quite expensive and I'm certainly not going to have every barrel I have threaded for one should they become legal. I do have a Ruger MK ll 22/45 that is threaded and I certainly would get one for that.

Finally, aesthetically, what looks to be a soup can on the end of a barrel must be an acquired taste.

Back to the subject; the scenery is indeed stunning!

I've hunted with suppressors in RSA, and I think they are wonderful. At the same time, they are ugly as homemade sin and you don't want to get in the thick brush with them. They will save not only your ears, but those around you and the game does not freak at every shot.

Did anyone else notice the comms? Everyone was wearing and ear piece. I have carried a walkie talkie with me for emergencies, but never wore an earpiece while hunting.

Anyone know where this is filmed in Norway. A dear friend married a Norwegian woman and I have been on his case for a couple years to go there for a hunt.

What I noticed in earpieces were better examples than any here in the states.
Being of some major part Norde myself, saw resemblances of many relatives on that vid. Many faces looked eerily similar to farmers and ranchers in my family tree.

Most popular caliber in Scandinavia - Danes, Swedes, Norwegians & Fins - is 6.5 x 55, most use 156 grain for everything deer,hog,stag and moose - a Norma rep told me they sell more 139gr in US and other countries than domestically

you too? lol good portion of my family tree is only bout 100 years off the boat from over there.....just got a book this week on hunting in Europe....would love to hunt over there....completely different traditions and such....not sure why but really want to hunt capercaillie(big arse grouse, lot bigger than a sage hen, smaller than a turkey often hunted with rifles) in some place like Norway where they use treeing dogs to hunt them.....

I was poking around that NRK TV site and found another hunting episode. This one features twin 20 something Norwegian sisters that like to shoot and hunt. At least I think they are twins, enjoy.

Thanks so much for posting the link, I very much enjoyed watching the film.

We don't get the color changes in fall here that they do there, but otherwise the mountains looked not too different from ours.

It's very cool to see how hunters all over the world pursue their quarry, it's amazing how much in common we have despite the distance between us.
