Found a nice Model 88 built in 1968, vintage Weaver base and rings, did put a newer (1988) Leupold 3.5-10x40AO on it Sunday after cleaning it up good. Brass comes from Starline via UPS today, have all the other components I need, hope to get it zeroed next weekend good enough to do work up a whitetail hunting load. Got plenty of IMR4350, Re22, and two pounds each of VV540 and VV560. Found several boxes of Hornady .243 90 grain ELD bullets - never used them before but they were available - guess I'll learn about them now. Also bought two boxes of Speer 90 grain HotCor. Anyone played with either of those bullets in the 243 WIN before?

Sweet rifle!

I'm looking for a Model 88 in 243 myself, picked one up a little bit ago and gave it to my son for his 16th birthday. Now need one for me!

Great Winchester, great chambering & "happy over your good fortune..." Truly! smile smile smile If not for my 88 Carbine in 308, a rifle in .243, a strong second choice!

Best & Stay Safe!
