Were the sides gently sloped into the barrel?

What did the top surface of the ramp look like. Straight lines or not?

Expert just told me the ramp was integral and the top had a random pattern

IIRC in 1949 the ramp could be internal if they were using an older barrel (which was common) or it could have a sweated on front sight. 1949 was the end of the "transition" era and there are no solid facts when it comes to transition M70's as you will see all kinds of odd M70's made in 47-49.
