P64 Stock

I thought I might be able to sneak in and get this stock since it wasn't advertised as a cloverleaf tang stock and only as a pre 64. No such luck. Seems high to me with the cracks but what do I know?

Like the old saying goes, "The market will set the price". Sure makes you wonder sometimes though.

That is part of reason I picked up one for very favorable price. If I choose to do so I can make nice profit selling it in parts. That is what people have been doing to old used Ithaca 37s for some time now.

A nice cloverleaf tang stock. Getting kinda rare these days.

$460 really isn't that bad if you need it to turn a nice pre-war back into original. If the gun doesn't have an original stock on it and it's in really nice shape you should be able to charge way more than $460 more once it has the right stock on it.

In a couple years people will be saying "I could have bought a stock like that for only $460 a couple years ago!"

So... along this line....

What would a prewar magnum stock (on a 300H&H) be worth if....

-refinished, but very clean (checkering is clean/sharp, wood is immaculate, but finish is new/not original, and buttplate is refinished

-bedded

-3/4" hairline crack at rear of tang

List it on E-bay and see what it will bring. Empty Ithaca Gun Co. oil can in excellent shape brought over $800 if I recall correctly. Full bottle of 3in1 at Home Depot is about $2. Wish I had bunch of them cans I would actually fill them up with Rangoon oil and not charge anything for the oil!

maybe $100 if you found someone who would want it. Sorry but it's no longer any sort of collectors piece and if a guy with a pre-war H&H is setting it up to hunt with he wouldn't want a low comb stock.

I bid on that stock, dropped out when the bidding topped $350.00 as I didn't really need the stock. Not surprised that it sold for what is did, if I needed it I would have bid that much possibly more. Cloverleaf stocks are becoming increasingly hard to find, I hoped that one not being advertized as one would keep the bidding from reaching the point that it did. Too many sharp eyed bidders out there that time, though once in a while one goes unnoticed.

Yes they do. I found a pre 64 stock for my 375 H&H Magnum for really cheap there. However, I've sold quite a few for around $400.00 as well. Buy cheap, sell high.
