Low comb stock, front swivel detached at some point was filled in and retapped forward of old hole. Rear sight was changed to flip like you'd find on a featherweight, obviously for scope clearance. While swapping sights the donut was marked. Metal and blue otherwise 92% or better I'd say.

I really don't need another .270, but. ....
The Red Book of Winchester values puts it at 475.
This is it's "30% serviceable condition"

I've seen some sell in this condition for $800.00-$1,000.00. You can't always go by what the red book tells us. That rifle would be a good candidate for a Mcmillan and many guys looking for a good 270 win would probably be interested. As we all know the barreled action would probably be worth $500-$600.00, so a "$475.00" quote from the previous poster

is not really/realistically in the ball park. That guy obviously doesn't frequent gunshows or surf the web wink . It also doesn't sound like a 30% gun to me either. Let's say it's at 70%, the red book says it has a value of "$950.00", an 80% gun has a value of "$1,140.00". From your description, it sounds more like a $750-$800.00 specimen. Post some pictures and we can get a better idea on value, even though you've described it very well. We may be able to point out something else to you if you post a few pictures. What are the first 3 digits of the serial #? Thanks..
BSA.......$700, plus tax......I may offer $650 just to see if he jumps.

I didn't take any pics, and I tend to grade conservatively when it comes to condition.

Excellent buddy. Good luck and I'm hoping most of it is original. You have a good eye for these. I think you'll do fine..
