i got this gun on trade, by the serial number it was made in late 1981-early 1982. it is a featherweight, no sights, and not made by us repeating arms...made by winchester...beautiful walnut stock, action/barrel are in awesome shape. i have no pics at the moment but i rate it at 90-95%.
i understand these were made for three (3) years only back in the 80's. my ? it has burris bases and rings with a swift 4x12x44 scope on it. whats a good price for this gun?

Posting a couple glamour shots will horn up the 7Mauser fans a lot faster.

Local store sold one recently in 98% condition for $800. It lasted about a week on the shelf.

Around $800 for that setup seems about right to me, but that caliber is no longer listed so Winchester lovers may give a little more. Do US ammo makers still milk down 7x57ammo like that did few dozen years ago? That was done so folks would not hurt themselves shooting those old military clunkers.

Without the scope,I would say $800 plus. Seen one of those at a local gunshow and the price was $900 IIRC.

Take the scope on it now and use it for a tent peg and put a 4x or 6x on it.

I paid $950 brand new for my FN made (in SC, not Portigal) in 7x57 8 months ago. You can still find them out there.

The cutoff sn for WRA made model 70's from what I found is G1525323 All model 70's made up to July 18 1981 I think thats the correct date were WRA. July 21st 1981 they are USRACo made model 70's.

Depending on SN You have what they consider a transition model 70 USRACo used a lot of left over parts from WRA to put together rifles.

79S, one too many digit in that serial #. Please advise as to the correct number.
Thanks,
