First off I don't own or know about Pre 64's other than the Hornet is rare. Today I was in a gun store that has their premium used rifles standing in a glass case. A couple used Weatherbys, restocked Sakos, and other high end custom wood stocked rifles.
Behind the other rifles was a what looked like a very clean Winchester with a hang tag that said Pre 64 22 Hornet, 1952, and a price of $3500. I didn't ask anyone about it as its a little light for elk.

Store is Duncan's Gunworks 760 727 0515

Unless it's a 99-100% gun the price is a bit steep. It's not too far from me, I may call and see if they move it for less. Thanks for the tip

Duncans prices are always marked a little high and I've never bought a firearm there but they always seem to have some nice used high end rifles and shotguns.I only could see the top 15 inches of the barrel and the one side of the forearm and I only took a quick glance but it looked 90% and better than what was for sale on GB. Of course it could be refinished.I was looking at the left side so I didn't see the bolt or the floor plate. I looked at the hang tag thinking it might be a standard caliber in nice shape but in following this site, I knew this was rare. There are also another 10 custom rifles that have been restocked with nice wood and one was a 300 H&H.
If you are close its worth the trip.

The high end gun case is on the right when you walk in.

I have a Pre 64 Hornet Carbine made in 1-42 and I would not let it go for $4500.
