To my horror I discovered that my 1955 .243 Model 70 FWT has become a safe queen.

About 98% and I simply don't get around to shooting it.

The 1955 .243 Model 88 has already been sold. :

The 1958 tiger stripe .270 FWT is a keeper:

What would you do?
(I am NOT looking for offers)

Sell it because the market is hot.

Keep it because the market is cold.

Hang on to the safe queen because they just don't make 'em like this anymore.

Sell it because who needs a safe queen.

Shoot the sombeesh. Simple as that!!!!!! grin
I'd sell it and buy something you'll shoot and enjoy.
Butter him up buddy... laugh
No interest here, I like pre-64's but not in the .243. It'll sell well for him, though, should he choose to move it. .243's are scarce in that condition.
PM me if you change your mind about selling.

I totally agree on all accounts...
I have a lot of guns I don't shoot that I just enjoy owning and fondeling every once in a while. I think the market is down on M70's right now and I'm not sure if it will recover, the internet is making the world smaller and easier to find things so the values have gone down IMO. It used to be if you wanted a 7mm M70 you had to hunt for one and if you found it it was a sellers market. Now I bet I could do a google search and find 5 or 6 for sale. I have a lot of old Winchester catalogs that I paid a lot of money for because when you found a 1941 wholesale catalog you bought it almost regardless of price, now you go to Ebay and there's 10 of them for sale for under $20!
Sell it along with a few others and go to Africa! My .02c. wink

amen. They were made to be shot. I would even wager it being a pretty good shooter as well.
hunt it, simple
I also have a safe Queen or three. IMHO if you really don't need cash I'd keep it maybe you will find something else and can put it towards another rifle or pass it on to a family member. I like to look at the Queens once in a while and know they have a safe place for the future. I have no lack of rifles to shoot, just a lack of time to use them all.
Nice Piece to have in your collection... Since you don't want to sell but don't want to keep either................. Kids doing collecting.?? Maybe one of your boys (or girls) collects or wants one to shoot. This is an awesome deer gun, but not for little kids to crawl through fences with.. Your discretion on the legacy models.
Myself, I'm looking for 1886 in LONG barrel or Carbine 35 Rem...! Round barrel preferred... want for hunting.! a Safe queen is OK but prefer one that has seen the trees. I DO LIKE WOOD IN MINE... BIG PLUS.
Mr Bushmaster, I sent you a PM. v best WinPoor
