I was looking on eBay night and to my dismay I saw the prices of 40, 50 and 60's Winchester catalogs has plummeted. Catalogs I spent $100-$200 on 20 years ago are now selling for $15-$25. And these are originals not the reprints! I was thinking of selling off all my older catalogs and M70 instruction books, hang tags etc. but for those prices I'll just keep them.
How's that song go again. "Got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them"???

"The secret to surviving is knowing what to throw away and what to keep"...

Come on, sing it with me buddy... whistle

BSA you are correct. I have some old Ambassadeur reels that brought $1500-$3000 20 years ago that now are selling for $125, that one really hurt!

There is a lesson to be learned about selling when there are buyers. I have quite a bit of old W stuff, but I sold off over the years so I'm OK. That being said, I still have some odd Winchester stuff.

Things have REALLY changed since the financial crisis of 2007-08 as many Americans are no longer spending their discretionary income on non-essential goods....

When you do decide to sell, Reelman, please let me know. I'd be interested and I might have some Ambassadeurs you'd like.

I think a lot of it is also the internet. It used to be that when you found say a 1943 catalog you bought it because you might never find another one. Now with the internet you can go to ebay and find them all the time.

Bobmar, I'm actually getting rid of some of my Ambassadeurs as they just don't interest me much anymore. I used to work for Abu and started collecting them then but haven't picked up a new (old) one in a couple years now.

Just thought you might have an interest in them, Reelman. Thanks anyway. I'd be interested in your Winchester stuff, regardless. The Internet has definitely made finding things a lot easier. By the way...Go Pack!
