Hello, I have two Winchester model 70's that are post 64 rifles, that were made for a short time starting about 1969 and going until 1981 I think. They both have a 5 digit serial # that starts with "G". The model 70, super grade 270 is serial # G18180, and the feather wt model 70, 7mm-08 is serial #G40993. Both are the controlled round feed with the long claw extractor. I have tried to find when these two rifles were made so I can add that to my records, but have run into conflicting info all over the net, so of it pretty old. Can someone with this knowledge help me here. Thanks much in advance for the help. Keener
Sounds like they are both Classics, which means they were made sometime after 1992,which is when the Classic hit the market officially far as I know.

"When" after 1992 I can't say but someone here will know and chime in.
Those early SG with 5 digit G prefix sn's are tricky. I had one years before the Classic appeared. Winchester could tell you when back then. All other sources would come up 1941!

Hello. New to forum and can't figure out how to subscribe to this thread that I started. I am not getting notices that anyone replied. I also can't get rid of that flashing envelope. Help is appreciated. Keener
The SG is 1991. The Featherweight is probably 1994.
Click on the flashing envelope. It is a pvt msg.
