I have a bull barrel for a Win. model 52 that was made in 1950 (50 is under bbl.). It has the scope mount anchors, and is 26 " long, end to end. I also have an Eric Johnson bull barrel # 805, made in 8/19/48. It is approx. 26 3/16 long and is tapped for the anchors and front sight. It is in excellent shape as is the Win. 52 bbl. also. What I would like to know is what they may be worth as I plan to put them up for sale in the near future. Thanks.
I will say all of the 52 barrels that I have saw are 28 inch barrels. I don't think they made them shorter until later in the sporter model which is a lighter contour weight barrel "not heavy barrel" or bull gun barrel. I am not stating they didn't make 26 inch barrels I just haven't saw any. So either you have rarity barrels or barrels that's been cut down. Prices are to be determined if original or they have been cut down an re crowned.
Most folks also think the heavy weight is a bull, the true bulls are higher diameter at the breach , about the same at the muzzle , 28" and flat crown. Pulling from memory that I do not fully trust, 1 1/8" on the bull at breach ahead of threads.
Eric Johnson barrels were top of food chain in the day
very best winpoor
