I’m trying to find an affordable LH rifle suitable for an upcoming Cape Buffalo Soirée.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks in advance
I have two LH Win 70 big bores. One is a 458 Lott and the other is a 375 H&H. I hunted with the 375 in Africa but it probably only about 60-70 rounds through it. The 458 was supposed to be for a Cape Buffalo hunt, but I ended up taking my buff with a different 375. The 458 has about 16-18 rounds through it. They are both in very good shape. I have thought of selling one or both but I just have not tried to do it.

Call me at 520-904-4322 if you have any interest. I really have not even thought of a price yet.

Dean
For the around $1k price point my suggestion would be to find a lh Ruger 77 in .375 Ruger, either their Alaskan or African model. If you can find a lh M70 .375 for under $2k you’d be lucky.
Thanks, & appreciate that advice.

I have loved my ruger rifles over the years, until they changed to the Hawkeye’s and cut back on the quality of wood. Then, I tried the Ruger African. I couldn’t have been more dissapointed in the fit, finish and just general all around workmanship that was lacking in that rifle. It really soured me on Ruger. Maybe I owe them another shot, but… not for this trip.

Again, Thanks for the offered advice. I appreciate it.
Thanks Dean. I’ll take that 458 Lott.
Let me know when you get back and we’ll work out the details.
Saw where the lh 70 in .458 listed here a few weeks ago for 2 grand brought $2,600+ on GunBroker.
I saw that as well. Thank you.
There are 2 Left hand Model 70 safari express guns in .375 H&H listed on GunBroker. Listed by same seller and ads show 2 different serial numbers. Search " left hand model 70" and you should find them.
Here's a nice one in 416 Rem. These were made by the Winchester Custom Shop and were nice rifles. I had one in 375H&H and foolishly sold it. The letter says "Right Hand Action" which is a typo, my letter said the same thing.

Sellers a bit proud of it but it's a rare gun.

I saw that .416 the other night while perusing GB. It kept we awake half the night.

With buyer's choice of lumber. Flat sawn, Rift sawn. Or Quarter sawn.
Very proud of that one for sure.

I saw that. Thanks for the heads up.
In my humble opinion, the seller of those rifles made a mistake listing them all at the same time. It will reduce bid competition and possibly result in lower selling price.

I actually went and looked at that rifle in person back in December. It is a beautiful firearm. I made an offer that I thought was fair and no dice so I moved on.

I have the LH Alaskan in 375 Ruger

It’s not pretty

But shoots 250 grain hornadys into the same hole

I’ve taken pigs and bears

I still regret not grabbing one of those from CDNN on closeout.
