As a confused left-hander (primarily a right-hander that shoots left-handed) I'd like to throw in a vote for a lefty forum!

Sweet!!

One of those elusive and expensive SS LH M70's.

I bought it from Ngrumba ten years ago to replace a blued Model 70 lemon that Winchester bought back from me. It was a .30-06 and I didn't shoot it much, so I had Mark Penrod re-barrel it to 7x57mm. (Something I WILL shoot often.) I stayed with the factory barrel length and contour.
Very cool chambering!!
How about some left-handed Festivus? I want to air some grievances, like why does Beretta USA hate left-handers? http://www.sako.fi/sako85models.php?hunter_lh

And what in the hell is wrong with the USRAC/FNH/Winchester empire? No left-handed rifles in almost seven years and no plans to make more?
And your new favorite rifle: CLICK D LINK

I've been dragging my feet for the past year with a Ruger 77 Hawkeye .257 Roberts re-barrel project, but now that these Montana ASRs are hitting the market with an MSRP of $1100 (I've seen some asking prices of less than $900), I'm beginning to rethink that plan.
About 14 lbs of 6.5 Swede , built on a 700 long action

Bricktop,

I could certainly envision a few left-handed Montana ASRs in my future! Thanks for the link.

I'm letting you know NOW! Let's see what you have.
My MRC-based 7mm-08 I've been using to chase late season whitetails. Mark Penrod built it for me with a 24-inch Krieger #2 barrel and bedded it in a McMillan Winchester Classic stock. It came with a stainless extractor (and stainless trigger), so I had Mark add a Williams chrome moly extractor. (Stainless extractors on CM guns just look funky to me.) It wears a Leupold VX-III 2.5 x 8. It ain't a light rig (about 8-1/2 pounds), but it shoots like a house afire.

Nice rifle BT!

Here's my favorite lefty.

Kimber of Oregon M84 in 6x47. Unknown stock mfg. Leupold 3-9x33 VX-2 Ultralight in Talley LW's.

My favorite LH rifle - a 300WM Echols Legend.

[Linked Image]

Penrod built 257 Roberts/short action 700/1-9 twist Krieger/ sleeved action is another favorite. Jewel Trigger. Kampfeld Custom Bolt. Talley Rings. Edge stock purchased from/painted by Rick. Black-T finish by Birdsong.

[Linked Image]

Penrod built 338WM on a Model 70 is nice. McMillan Supergrade stock/Kreiger Barrel. Marks metalwork - bolt knob/release is outstanding.

[Linked Image]

Penrod built 416 Remington on a Model 70 whacks cape buffalo real well. Echols Stock/Krieger Barrel. Marks bolt knob. NECG sights. Talley detachable rings.

[Linked Image]

For plinking a New Ultra Light Arms 22 RF. Jewel Trigger - nice.

[Linked Image]

And because everyone has to have a least one wooden stocked rifle - a 250-3000 Dakota 76 Alpine (blind magazine). Conetrol Rings. Walther barrel. I bought this new for $1200. I think they only made Alpines for a year or so.

[Linked Image]

And a LH New Ultra Light Arms 300 WSM. This was the first 300WSM that Mel built. I cracked the stock the first time I went to Africa when tree'd by a Rhino. The branch broke, I fell 6 feet on the wrist of the stock and, it cracked, but didn't break. Duct taped it up to finish the Safari - called Mel to tell him the funny story when I got back - Mel said "even so, it shouldn't have cracked" - had me send it to him and put a brand new stock on it. I sent it to Robar to have the stainless barrel coated, the stock Rogarded, put Dave Gentry UltraLight Rings on it, and foolishly sold it at a weak moment. I wish I had it back. It shot 1/2" groups at 100.

I think he's being humble and showing off his clunkers!
One of the most accurate rifles I have is a bone stock Tikka T3 270Win with a Trijicon scope. Well it's almost bone stock - Rick painted it and it has a decelerator pad. Someday I will get it Black-T'd.

Actually, I sold the 22 Rimfire, but had to buy it back about 3 years later because the guy was getting divorced. I promised to give him first dibs if I ever sell it again. I did sell the 300WSM NULA

What about the Alpine?
Still have it. i also still have that 270win Model 70 that i need to do something with. Can't decide on 9.3 x 62, 25-06, 6.5 x55, or having Mark hog it out to a 257 Weatherby. Maybe i should just have that 30-06 barrel you have put on it. I dont even have a 30-06 anymore, except for my dad's old 1903 Springfield.
I thought you sold an Alpine several years back.

Now for some plain vanilla. Browning T-Bolt in .22 LR topped with a Leupold Rimfire 2x7 in Browning/Talley mounts. I bought this based on some enthusiastic reports from bea175 and managed to kill two coyotes with it last year. They're a hell of a good rimfire.

Ill throw in my support for a Lefty forum
Just saw this thread... +1...
another new member with a vote for a left hand forum
The left-handers' forum on AR has served as a clearing house of sorts for some of these special runs of left-handed rifles that've shown up the last couple of years; i.e., the Zastava Mausers, the stainless Ruger Hawkeyes, the initial offering of left-handed short action Ruger Hawkeyes, etc. That kind of traffic needs to happen here.

Agreed!
An old friend makes a return.

My LH 700 KS will be back in my hands soon.

Here's what it looked like when I sold it.

[Linked Image]

It's killed 8 BG animals since I sold it including a sheep and a goat.
It's also been Cerakoted.
I seem to have dragged a few LH castoffs home myself, It would be neat to have a LH forum so my LH rifles could socialize!

I just got one of those bent-barreled stainless Hawkeye .223s last night. The barrel is bent off to the LEFT!!!! I'll try and post pictures later today. On the bright side it has one of the best trigger pulls of any factory Ruger 77.
No kidding? Yours is bent too!
keep the idea alive!!
Bump for a Lefty section.. We fellow lefties need one!!!!!!

Roy
We're wearing Rick down guys, keep it up!

1600+ views in a forum without too much traffic is pretty good.

C'mon Rick, throw us lefties a bone here. wink
Here's my bent .223 Hawkeye barrel:

[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

It seems more acute looking at it in-person, but a bend can definitely be seen in the photographs.
How in the hell does a BENT barrel make it out of the shop?!?!

That's the $64,000 question. Especially after Ruger has prided themselves on barrel quality for the past twenty years with their investment in barrel making infrastructure.
It also seems odd that the small caliber barrels are bent, and not the larger caliber. Should be just opposite? Seems they are picking on lefties, bent barrels cracked stocks! But they are making LH rifles!
How do two (at least) bent barrels get out? Something was seriously out of whack on the screw-the-barrel-in machine - or someone was seriously asleep while running it.

My .223 arrived back at the factory this past Wednesday, 1/15. We'll see how long it takes to get back here. Hopefully they'll be so ashamed these all got out that they'll put one of their super duper extra accurate barrels on it. wink
Just got a PM over on accuratereloading from a member there who bought one of these leftie .223's. His barrel is also bent.

Somebody at Ruger really screwed the pooch on these.

We deserve a Left Handers Forum just because so many lefties have so many great looking rifles.

I hope that Rick will see the left hand light.

It's pretty bright.

Steve
It is pretty bright!

Rick, how many lumens will it take to get us our forum?
Long live the lefties. Another vote from a complete and total lefty (handed that is, not politically).

Mart
If I can get back to the States any time soon, I'll post pix of a couple of LH customs with pretty fine wood I had made up before one could get Winchester 70s. Now I'm more interested in adding more of the latter to my collection, but their availability is drying up.

My avatar shows the LH .375 H&H based on a 700 action.

Been playing a lot with this one lately at 50 yds. CZ 452 LH American .22 with a Mueller APV. Scope is OK for now, but a Leupold 3-9X Lightweight EFR in Talleys will be a nice upgrade later.

I think I posted this Remington already, but hey, it IS a nice 700. Caliber 7mm Mag, one-piece steel bottom metal, pillared, glassed and floated, with a 3.5 lb trigger. It has a Leupold 2.5-8X Vari-X III in Talleys. I like it mucho.

[Linked Image]

Nice rifle!

The Leupold Ultralight EFR is a perfect scope for a quality rimfire.
It would be perfect with a turret.
Yep.

That's why I put a M1 on mine.

Sold the first one though but getting another just like it.
