Only had 6, so I grabbed one to see what the fuss is all about.

$370 shipped to local dealer.
I'm still waiting to get my RAR in .300 Blackout for supressed pig shooting! Hurry to hell up, Ruger!

A 7-08 would be cool if I didn't have a Rem. Model 7 Custom Shop Mannlicher in 7-08 already!

Just snagged a 7mm-08 off GunBroker for $322
Can't wait to get it here and in the vise......
Got my .308 from richiespng, too. Seemed like I save a little on shipping by going through their website instead of gunbroker.

Finally shot it Saturday.

Shoots good , I like it. Just enough weight that the 7mm-08's recoil is mild.

Rain sat in so didnt get it zeroed in, will do that another day.

It'd will make a great starter gun for a kid that you dont want to have a lot of money tied up in.
I am 69 yr old & just bought one 3 days ago. 7/08 caliber, Left hand. Aint shot it yet but plan on it.
I'm looking forward to trying out the LH American in 223 and 7-08. Those of you who have the 7-08, please post your results as you shoot them. Thanks!
Bought a LH Ruger American 7-08 at the local 3 Bears store they ordered me one. It came in while they were having a sale $323 out the door.

Put Talley LW rings and a Camerland, Brunton 3 X 9 scope nice scope for $70.
Finish on rifle kinda thin, and had to clean muzzle edge piece of metal sticking out that was sharp. Cleaned bore. Adjusted trigger and gave it a little more free float.

12 shots fired second group went .69" for 3 shots 4 shots opened up to 1.25". Worse group around 2". Pretty impressed for inexpensive rifle. Bullets to long to feed hung up in mag, throat is a little long for mag length in mine with 140 gr Nosler BT.

One thing I will ad would not feed well thought bullets were to long but once I lubed magazine with One Shot dry lubrication it fed well.
Bobfrom41018,

Where did you pick yours up from ? Curious since I am from 41040...
Been breaking my LH American .308 in. This was three one right after another with $11/box wahmaht stuff:
[Linked Image]

Trigger's kinda creepy, but it gets light enough. Savage Accu-triggers are noticeably better, but perhaps insignificantly so for a cheap hunting rifle.

I did have a chance to handle a couple of other LH Americans in a gun shop after I bought mine. The finish on them was the same as mine. Sounds like scratching your fingernail across your jeans when you work the bolt. The bolt face on mine is rough enough with tool marks to put marks on the fired brass.

The RH one I looked at before ordering was much smoother.

Do you like it enough to keep it, if they offered your money back?
Yep, but I should qualify that by adding that I bought the rifle to run cheap ammo through. It will see steel cases and maybe even corrosive. I wouldn't do that to a "real" rifle.
For you guys that have one, I'm looking at getting a LH 7mm-08 for my Granddaughter. I want to shorten the stock to fit her to a compact size. I asked Ruger if they were going to make an aftermarket compact stock for it and they said not at the present time. So my question is hat does it look like the possibility of shortening up the stock? Would it be
feasible to cut the stock and maybe put on a limbsaver slip on recoil pad say of half an inch?

They are now offering compacts in lefthand. I'm strongly considering buying a LH standard and then purchasing a compact stock from them.

If that fall through I'm thinking I may do what you're proposing with the slip on Limbsaver. If it's too flimsy horizontally (I don't think it will, but never know) I plan on stuffing it with plastic sacks and filling the last inch or so with spray foam. That with the slip on pad should be sufficient. Second option would be spray foam cut/sanded flush with the back of the stock them gluing a flip flop pad on. I did one on a cut down 10/22 stock. It's ugly, but cheap and works.
I've been pleased with mine.

used it for 3 deer this season.

Folks get carried away finding flaws with a $400 gun.

Sure. its rough and rugged around the edges.

1" group @ 100 yds out of a $400 ( or cheaper) gun? Seems like a deal to me.
