Anybody have a clue what a LH 788 chambered in .308 in good to very good condition would be valued at?
I've seen them sell anywhere from $450 to $850. Condition is crucial. You only need to please one person on the price. Nobody else matters. I paid $550 for my 6MM Rem with a crappy scope and an extra magazine.
I paid 500 for one several years ago, the condition was good and it had no glass or mounts!
I would think it could be had for between $400-$600 depending on condition and circumstance. Most 788's are selling in that range today. There is a LH .308 on GB for a tad over $700. No bids, seems high.
Ok, it's in that same ball park then. He's asking $465 w/ an older 1.5x4.5 power Weaver on it. Think I'll probably pick it up, seems like a decent deal based on this info.
I sure wish that I had not traded mine off years ago! mad

I bought a 788 in 22-250 about 6 weeks ago. First year model, 1967 with metal butt plate. Very good original condition. Great bore, no erosion. I paid $275 plus taxes but had to get a new magazine. That was $25 plus shipping from an auction sight. About $325 total. Gun came with a Redfield base and rings.

Not a 308 or LH I know but deals are out there when they show up. Completed auctions show around ~$500 give or take.

Do LH guns cause a premium?

I honestly think you could find a LH 788 in 308 for less than 400 if your patient.
You wont find any lefthand 788 around here for 400. Righthand ones are bringing up to 475.00. I sold a lefty 308 last year , just the gun and one mag for 550.00. I wouldnt take a 1000.00 for my lefthanded 6 mm .
The 788's sell pretty well for their actions, alone.
