Anybody know when they are going to start producing LH rifles?

I'm not giving up hope but expect it won't happen until next year.
Posted By: gerry35 Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 07/10/17
On one of the threads here there are people that are connected with Barrett and they mentioned that we can expect the LH rifles next year sometime. Time will tell............
Posted By: OSU_Sig Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 07/10/17
I recall that now, as well.
Posted By: Snowwolfe Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 10/09/17
I emailed them last night. They answered today.

"At this time we are only offering the right –hand. We have no definite ETA as of yet, but it will not be in 2018.

Thanks,
Lindsey Smith"

i'm borne and bred left-handed. don't have a single solitary left hand gun in the closet, all right hand turn bolts, semi-autos, and marlin lever guns. they all work.

no one can reasonably expect an organization (company) to not pick the low-hanging fruit on the tree. that is, if profits are rolling in, don't do anything to interrupt the flow. and in the case that rt-handed guns are selling like pancakes, why in the world to invest a single penny in left-handed stuff, and risk slowing down the rt-handed gun sales?

the answer is obvious. we believe what we want to believe mostly, but objective facts are difficult to refute. i'd love to have a left-handed kimber, but i understand it might not ever happen.

my two clearanced RAR's from wal-mart, a .243 and a .308 shoot lights out. it'll never be any cheaper for the accuracy level obtained out of the box. but, still i wouldn't mind owning a gun mfg'd in the south if the conditions ever get right.

and speaking of the south, bergara rifles are assembled pretty much just down the street from me in ne Georgia. i don't think they offer a left-handed version either, but i could be wrong on that, have never handled one. but, they do believe in the merits of timney triggers if i'm correct.

I emailed Bergera about lefty models. The guy that answered happened to be left handed he said. He told me it was in the works. He hoped sooner than later.

I figured as much. Make the product announcement, get hopes up, then backpedal.
At least Ruger brings things out unannounced sometimes, and I dont recall them not fulfilling a product announcement in a short timeframe
No surprise they made the backwards models first. Saves me money every time.

Why is it when I tell someone I'm going to deliver on something and then don't I'm lying, but when the gun industry does it it is good business practice? Laughing!

My favourite part is at 45 seconds.

Put a call in to Barrett this afternoon about the Fieldcraft in LH. Left a message with Gabby and waiting for a return call. Figure it can't hurt to keep the fire lit.

I just harassed them again via Facebook. Gotta keep the pressure up, otherwise we'll just keep hearing "Maybe next year..." from them.

You could of had both those Rugers in left hand but you opted for a clearance sale. Don't you think you are part of the problem why we don't have many left hand options. Not trying to insult you but it is what it is.

That's kind of a ridiculous statement. Someone settling for something other than what they want because they get a deal is not part of the problem. You're asking the consumer to adapt to the manufacturers wants and needs. If they'd make rifles that leftys actually want, they wouldn't have to clearance them out.

When & where do we send deposits?

no worries mate. i'm not easily insulted, if at all. the two rugers i procured were gifted to a son and a son-in-law, both righties as the fates might have it. but my righty rems, british 303's, savages, & ruger mark II seem to perform ok, given my left-handedness.
walmart was clearancing the RAR's, and if i hadn't bought them, likely someone else would have?

anyways, Bergara is close by me, am hopeful for a lefty from them some day, as well as Barrett. both would be classed as good in my book.
Would not plan on it.

Update on LH FC copied and pasted from Sitka deer,s post he is at 2018 Shot Show

We spoke to Barrett yesterday at some length... his comments ran along the line of "it's too early to start playing with LH because we cannot fill the RH pipeline" or "I know how small the LH segment of the market is and lefties would not be able to afford the incrimental costs of starting LH production now."

I would not recommend holding your breath waiting for LH.

Looks like a Tikka is our best hope for now for a LH 6.5 CM
Posted By: gerry35 Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 01/25/18
My next gun will be a Tikka, it may be a bit heavier but it's not overweight by any means. You know it's going to be dependable and shoot great too.

Thanks for the update.

So is Tikka coming out with a stainless t3x in 6.5cm? If so, it’s going on my wish list!

Yeah, pushing those buttons to tell the machine to make a mirror image part is so expensive. I don't know how they'll ever stand the strain.
Posted By: Orion2000 Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 01/25/18
I also pinged Barrett on FB messenger back around the first of the year about LH FC's... Got a response about a week later: "No plans at this time." ... Disappointing...

I'm not an expert in manufacturing or CNC programming but there could only be one reason for the increase in the price for LH rifles and that is they can get it. Not having enough time to get a LH line started due to the popularity of the RH line is believable. But that can be fixed with additional shifts.
I'm very disappointed that the left hand offering is likely not going to happen.

Agree with all of your points. My SWAG is that they have hit a production point where they have maxed out currently available resources, are making a reasonable profit, and have decided from a business strategy stand point that they do not want to incur the additional capital costs, nor human capital costs to further expand production. If they are profitably sold out on all of the Right Hand rifles that they can produce, it is a valid business strategy to say "Hey. We're good with the current situation..." Sucks for Left Hand shooters. But, it is an enviable position from the business perspective.

Having said that, I have a LH SS SA Rem 700 action sitting on the shelf. When I finish up the current LH 6.5x55 Mauser project, might think about building a LH 6.5 CM... Or, not...

Thanks for the confirmation, Orion. I fully understand, from a business strategy perspective, why they would not launch a LH line. In no way does this mean I no longer like Barrett but I am deeply disappointed in they told us LH's were coming and now they are not.

I agree completely and have move on. It won't fill the FC niche exactly, but I'll likely grab a Tikka 6.5 CM when they become available.

Yep, it looks official now that they won't ever prodcuce a lh fieldcraft.
Quite a bummer.
Posted By: local_dirt Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 02/14/18
Screw them for leading us on. Won't look back at them.

Got a notification from Sportsman's Outdoors last night that they had LH Ruger American Predators back in stock for $439, free shipping. Ordered one of those.
Posted By: KenMi Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 02/14/18
I knew that from the start when they pulled the info off their site after 3 days. They certainly got enough response and interest in the LH guns.
What they won't admit is the sales numbers of RH guns don't justify making LH versions.
Posted By: gerry35 Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 02/15/18
I have moved on and will look elsewhere, you can buy 3 Tikka's here for the price of one FC. They will be just as accurate and only a bit more weight, going to support those who actually make LH guns and not worry about those who changed their minds.
Posted By: BIGR Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 02/20/18
You guys are talking about a left hand Fieldcraft, is this web page a fluke or did they actually have a lefty for sale?

Says they are out of stock, I wonder if they ever even had one or trying to get people to maybe pre order?

https://www.ableammo.com/catalog/ba...stock-stainless-finish-rds-p-153998.html
Posted By: KenMi Re: Barret Fieldcraft LH - 02/20/18
That was based on the promise assumed when Barret put them on their website. Many online dealers do that once an item number is set. So, once the item comes in, they just update stock status.

Might as well be listed as a left hand Kimber. About the same hopes for ever seeing one.
