Hey guys picked up a savage model 24F 222 over 12 guage, has a camo synthetic stock,(probably from mid to late 80s) open sights and the top is drilled ( pretty sure factory) for a rail. The 12 guage barrel has a removable choke. I’ve seen the 222 over the 20 guage, but never the 222 over a 12. I read somewhere that grice in clearfield pa did a special run of these?
Any way, wanted to see if there was any information out there about them. Sorry I can’t figure how to list photos on here. Thanks

24Vs were only offered in 20 gauge, but 24Fs were offered in both 20 and 12 gauge. I never cared for the 24Fs with 12 gauge barrels 'cause they are so much heavier than the 20 gauge versions.

24Fs were cataloged with both black and camo synthetic stocks and forearms during their production run. All centerfire 24s, both 24F and 24V, are factory d&t for scopes bases, I have Weaver #74s on mine.
Hey thanks for the information, I’ve seen the 24F in the Turkey model but that was a 223/12 never seen the 222/12 though. I owned a couple 222/20 as well

I'm wondering if anyone can add any more info about my Stevens 24? Chicopee Falls Mass. I believe it is older than 1950, has no serial # but a patent # on the right side (2269387) just in front of the round barrel selector. A 22Lr over 410. Thanks to all in advance.

The only centerfire rifle 24Fs with 12 gauge barrels that I recall seeing have been chambered in 223 and 30-30. I have a transition 24F, marked 24 without the "F", in 223/20 and a 24F in 22/20. I have been thinking that I might run a .22 MAG reamer in the .22 LR barrel to make it more useful or I might just sell it.

i have a 222/20 gauge i had a gunsmith make it simpler he rechambered this gun to a 223/20 gauge so ammo is easier to find .

I have,I thought, all the 24F series 12 gauge guns--that's 12 under 30-30,223,22 hornet and .17 but I've never seen the .222 version.I had my .17HMR re-chambered to .17 remington and am glad I did, shoots really well.Yes the "F" series is heavier than the "V's" but I prefer the 12 gauge so I've sold all my V guns including my 357 max.It was the only one that ever got taken to the woods anyway
Just uploaded some pics to the post, not sure why but when they uploaded they look kinda blurry

Exactly the reason that I like my .22 Mag./20 gauge m24 instead. We don’t have that many big varmints here that need much more than that .22 Magnum.
