Well, I hope you guys are happy now that you have this forum... grin smile

I have never cared for drillings, and could never see a use for them in the US...

But for some unexplained reason, I have always liked the combination guns... blush My biggest disappointment, was once I found one for sale. It was a 16 ga over a 7x65R. The guy who owned it didn't even know what it was... shocked Unfortunately, someone had shortened the stock by about 3" and then put a contrasting piece of wood back on. It looked terrible...

He wanted $2000 for it. I offered him $800... 'Cause at the time, I figured it'd take another $1K to restock it. I always wished he'd have taken my money for it. By now I'd have had it done. blush

You're lovin' it.

Travis
Hopper,

If you liked bird hunting as much or more than big game you would love a drilling in this neck of the woods.

I hunt my deer mostly with a drilling and come down from 9,000 to 10,000 foot high mountains with several blue grouse or chuckar at slightly lower elevations quite often.

It adds immeasurably to my joy of hunting. I almost feel I've cheated. grin

When I was a young boy of about 12-13 I came off the top of the Limbo Range with 7 chuckar, 10 valley quail, and a nice 4X5 muley. It kicked my azz, but I was awfully happy with a day like that.

It never happened again, but I've had some good mixed hunts along the way for over 50 years after that. smile
My first combo gun was a Savage .22 Magnum/20 gauge. While I liked it, I often wished for a second shotgun barrel. Eventually my wish came true, and the second shotgun barrel did prove quite handy--just as it does on a double-barreled shotgun.
