Does anyone here have a drilling chambered in 5.6x57xxR ?
Close...one in 6.5X57R...
I have a 5.6x50R mag and have looked into the 5.6x57R in the past. Are there any specific questions you have about it?
Just load data, bullet , powder ,information. Accuracy ? I load the 5.6x57mm , just curious about its brother.
Do you load the original 5.6x57mm RWS or a 5.6mm wildcat based on the 57mm Mauser case like the .224TTH, 22-6mm Remington or 22-257 Roberts?
The 5.6x57mm Rimmed RWS is a brother to the 5.6x57mm RWS that was introduced in 1964. My info is coming from COW where load data is available. The 5.6x57 RWS has a very thick neck so rimfire chamber adaptors can be used, I do not know if brass can be made from 57mm Mauser cases.
You might want to take a look at this thread, it deals with the 5.6x57 case.. Here's the Link.

In the Dynamit Nobel hand loading manual of 1995 you can find some loading data, but they load their own powders. Dynamit Nobel developed a special 4,8 gramm (74 grs) KS bullet for this cartridge. The maximum load results in 975 m/s (3197 f/s). The maximum load for the 5,6 x 57 results in 1020 m/s (3344 f/s). The manual also list some data for a 4,1 gramm sp bullet, whose max. speed is 1085 m/s (3557 f/s). (5,6 x 57: 1100 m/s = 3606 f/s)
If you are interested in the concrete data, send me a pm. The powders, which are used, are RWS powders. I think, you can buy them in the US.
A friend of mine shot his roe deer with the 5,6 x 57 and the KS bullet in his Krico repeating rifle and was very satisfied with the cartridge. But he never chanced a shot on bigger game. I think this was a right decision.
I am shooting the original 5.6x57mm RWS in a Steyr Mannlicher Model L. I was quite lucky to have a supply of brass, and just recently found a supply of new old stock, loaded ammo. Also have rimfire adapters for 22long rifle and 22 magnum.
Included in the ammo I just bought was a box of 10, 5.6x57mmR,unopened, still sealed. It peaked my curiosity, now I am wondering more about it.
From what I've read it seems that they are same just a rim added.
You might want to drop a line or call RWS and see if they can tell you if they are loaded to the same pressure and velocity.
Hornady also has data for the rimless version.
During my time in Germany I never saw a huge difference in loads between the rimmed v/s non rimmed calibers.
The one that was hotter was the 30R Blaser... That's the rimmed .30-06 and it was like a "light magnum" load.
I'll email my German 'Smith and see what he has. You can also get on RWS' German site and do the google translate thing.
