Met up with an old friend at Edison lake in the Sierra's for four days of trout fishing, gun shooting and whiskey around the camp fire.
Edison lake is very remote, so we only go every five years are so.
The scenery was spectacular and the fishing was great.
We boated 190+ trout, all Browns, all catch and release.
Mostly small. One 25" 6 lb and a dozen in the 3 to 5 lb range.
All trolling light and ultra light spinning gear.
Let me tell you, a six pound German on ultra light spinning gear is a fight.

Dang man that is just spectacular… great fishing in unspeakably gorgeous surroundings with a good friend… what can be better than that???

Big browns on UL gear most certainly give a run for your money! Nicely done thanks for posting!

Congrats on a great trip and a lot of quality fishing. As I recall you primarily use Rapalas up at Courtright, the same at Edison?

It's been a few years since I fished Edison. Is the road into the Lake area as tedious/tough as ever? I remember thinking I deserved to catch some fish because of that last stretch of road.

The road is the same until the last 3-4 miles.
Then you can add a thousand pot holes.

After trying the Rapalas, I went with a Lucky Craft Pointer 65 silver, and a small gold Yozuri.
Small and shiny seemed to work best.

Steve was tearing up the smaller fish with a small silver spoon.

is that the lake that is about 25 miles above the town of Georgetown?
Posted By: Anaconda Re: German Browns at Edison - 07/11/23
No, it's 25 miles above Huntington lake, about 100 miles east of Fresno.
Elevation, 7,700 ft
You have to drive over a 9,400 ft pass to get there
The snow is still 4 feet deep in the high country.

Very nice. Don't see any boats behind you. Less people than usual? The good thing about the road in is a lot of people go up there once and it's one and done.
