I am an Erie walleye fisherman looking for a very good quality rubber net. My buddy has a Ranger Tournement Series rubber net and it's great but very heavy. GF is buying me one for Christmas and I would like to hear what you guys that fish for walleye and salmon are using. She's been on me to let her know exactly what I want but I don't live in an area that I could go somewhere close and compare different nets. This is for boat fishing and would have to have a long extendable handle.

Anything better than the Ranger net out there?

Ranger and Beckman

I’ve had a rubber net eventually it wore down and tore apart. I went to netting and with out proper netting it can hurt the fish and plus fabrics start to tear I would read reviews on it before you buy one.

Can’t remember the brand name net I have now but I painted the net with flex seal to the fabric. To protect the fish. It made it heavier but looks like it works as of now. Just a thought.

I was actually able to handle a Beckman at Sportsmans Warehouse a few weeks ago. I liked it but didn't get to compare it to a Ranger side by side. I'd imagine I'll be choosing one of those two.

Thanks for the input.

Rubber or PVC coated is a must, I'm tired of working to get hooks out of my net.

Beckman I all I use for salmon. Love the strong hoop and the collar, as well as the round, reinforced handles.
I don't like heavy rubber nets at all, so look for rubber coated nylon if you're looking for a release net, or better yet, just don't net the fish, use a dehooker.

Don't know what brand/s mine are, but all are tangle free rubber.

Frabill, luckystrike, et al !

Take a look at the ego s2. Only had mine for a season but so far its been a great net. If you fish solo it can be extended one handed with a little practice.

I have a Beckman with the silicone mesh. It's a bit heavy for one hand use, but dumping the silicone mesh for a coated fabric mesh shaved a bit of weight.
