sweet.....supposed to be nice this weekend and know they are usually caught in the early spring....have permission to fish from a chunk of river front property i havent looked over since the flooding last year worked it over so thought i would throw a couple lines in the water....
the state record was caught near where im fishing.....know they usually are biting in the early spring and since they are one of the few fish i have yet to pull out of the river i thought i would give it a try....prolly head back out after work later this week
Eel Pout, tails are great boiled and covered with butter. Poor man's lobster from some of the larger lakes in Minnesota. Catch them fairly often an live minnows when fishing through the ice.
They are listed as an invasive species in Flaming Gorge Reservoir. On both the Wyoming and Utah ends of the lake, there is a catch and kill law. You cannot release any live burbot, period.
They seem to like the shallower inflow end, which is Wyoming. I've never caught one.
