Another thread got me thinking about line choice for spinning for trout. I usually fish spinners such as Mepps on 6 or 4 pound low viz green mono such as Trieline XL Suffix. I ran braid years ago when it first came out but went back to mono pretty quick. Is there anything better than mono for light and ultralight spinning reels fishing spinners in rivers and streams?

Well, Ive done a little trout fishing and really like Fireline in #10 test ( #3 lb diameter) Plain old original black has always been great for a lot of reasons.

I was using gorilla braid and it was too limp. I assume the fireline is better as it is fused. Are you using the smoke color?

Too limp was a reason I went to Fireline....I tried Power Pro and it was too limp, lures would tumble during casting and get caught in the line. Fireline at #10 has just enough "memory" to keep even a size 2 Panther Martin good most of the time. Plus I can use conventional old school knots on Fireline, and couldn't with Power Pro.

Yes....smoke is the color. Others might be good, I just haven't tried them...

ingwe, were you planning to use that knife on that trout????

Fly fishers will hang you!! But I remember, you don't eat fish..

You are safe..
I tried braid too. Power pro, spiderweb and others, didn't like it. I also like a little memory as poobs does. I was using it for jerk baits in the spring the lures would tumble and the line would end up wrapped around the trebles. I went with fireline and I like it much better. I tried nanofil and I like it just a bit better. It casts better than anything on the market and handles great. It's super thin also, the only drawback is some traditional knots aren't as good as knots made for thin super lines.

that knife got used on that fish, and the fish went home with my pard to eat. She caught this one on the same trip, and we used a knife on it too!!! shocked

If God didn't want us to eat fish he wouldn't have made them out of meat.

Braid color can be important. Pays to experiment.

I tried several and decided on green "Nano-Fil".
I like the chartreuse nanofil, I'm a line watcher. I do use a leader though.
