Bought a 22' pontoon boat. Backing into the water requires a bit more of a dip than a typical lighter weight boat. And, it doesn't exactly slide off the bunkers with ease. Is there slicker bunker material than carpet? Any launch tricks I could learn?

I did this for years because I had to launch by myself. Peel off about 6-8ft of rope or cable off the wench and then lock your wench. Back up till the pontoon floats off the trailer then pull your truck up till you can get on the trailer and into the boat. Make sure you unlatch the boat before putting the motor in reverse. Don't ask me how I know this step. You'll have to play w/the amount of rope you have to peel off the wench till you get the right amount you need. powdr

Teflon bunk glides.

After launching, spray your bunks with silicon. Your next launch will be easy as well as your retrieve. Good luck and have fun. GaryU

What is all this talk of wenches? If you put them on the back of the pontoon it should float off the trailer. And I wouldn't put silicon on the carpet. . Sand is gritty. SiliconE is slippery, unless the wenches enhance themselves ;-)

The thing on the front of the trailer is a WINCH. And you want to spray the bunks/carpet with SILICONE.

Put the wenches under the pontoons ------ solves two problems.
