I was bound and determined to get on my favorite high country lake before dawn today.
Leaving the house at 2:30 am, I got there only to find the road still closed.

I dropped the hammer the my #2nd choice lake and was trolling at first light.
I boated a few, then about 6:20 “the bite” happened, and I pulled in 17 trout in 40 minuets.

The Barbie pole was hot today, with a baby trout patten J-9

About 8:30 am the wind kicked up, and the temperature dropped from low 40s the mid 30s, and suddenly I was freezing (I wasn’t dressed for wind and 35%).
I got off the lake and made it home before noon.

That's a beautiful place.

Damn! You are getting me revved up for trout!

Don't know if I could slum the Barbie rod...my Hannah Montana outfit might get jealous! grin

I fish creeks here, and right now they are high and muddy with spring runoff...gotta be patient.

Was Wishon your second choice? We had the use of a friends cabin at Shaver earlier this week and after a couple of days to get used to the altitude went up to Courtright on the 25th. We had heard it was open but it was still closed. Fished Wishon and caught a lot of fish on Rapala style Rebel plugs in an off and on rain but no size to them. Still a good day.
