I threw this video together to help others learn how to run a marabou jig for trout. I don't get anything for doing this other than the satisfaction that it might help someone out. Give it a look and a thumbs up if you like it. Thanks.

Good video. You posted about these jigs earlier this year and I bought some from the tackle shop you recommended with good results. Like any other lure or fishing in general, some days are better than others but they're well worth having. It's an easy way to fish a streamer without bringing the fly rod.
Good video, I catch more trout on jigs than probably anything else.
Trout nut, me too!

Cool video, Thanks for posting. I use marabou's through the ice for trout, but havent used them on the open water for years, gonna have to give it a go.

To a fly fisherman that a bunny fly or with feathers its a wooly bugger. They are deadly. Crappy jigs work well too. Nice fish.

Looks like it works just fine.

Never would have thought about using jigs for trout . . .
I have never fished jigs for trout. I have read some of the big browns in East tn have been caught on jigs. I will try them.
Some of my biggest trout have either been on Jigs or Joe Flys . Not sure why but i do use both a lot .
Jigging with marabous is basically the closest a spin fisherman gets to stripping a streamer. Sometimes it's even more effective than a streamer.

I've been tying my own jigs and using them for 20+ years. Great lure for all species. A wooly bugger on a jig hook is murder for just about all stream fish, small mouth bass love them as much as the trout do.
I think with the election in two days I just want to vote and then go jig fish. I like the odds of how jig fishing will go for me as opposed to the election!

We know how the election went - was the fishing really better?

I doubt it could possibly have been.
But would Hawaii at least help out by taking back the old one? lol

Thanks for the vid. Gave it a try on a river Sunday and caught a 3+ lb trout!!
Mbhunt, now that's what I like to hear! Any pics? I'm glad to see this video still picking a few views here and there. It was fun to make and I hope to make another this spring while hopefully catching some slammer rainbows around here on publicly accessible waters.

No pics. My son netted him and I didn't want to pull him out for pics so I did a quick release.
Nicely done to release that fish.
Thirty + years ago some of the "oldtimers" on a big lake near here scoffed when I said I released virtually all the trout I caught as "you'll never fish the lake out".
Of course nowadays that lake is a shadow of what it once was with lots of regulations in place to try to turn it around!
Patbrennan, catch and release is something I really practice. I rarely keep trout. The only exception is if I want it mounted. Which has only happened 3 times in 52 years, so the odds are definitely in the fishes favor. The only other exception is when a close friend requests having some to eat now and then. I personally don't care to eat fish much, but taking a few out of over populated creeks actually helps. Some of the mountain creeks around these parts have rediculous numbers of stunted trout. I have no idea how many hundreds of trout I catch each year but the percentage that don't go back in the water would be about 3-5% maximum. Some years 100% go right back in the water.
