Guys I will admit upfront I am no mauser expert. I picked up a mauser that was rebarreled with a Douglas 7x57 mauser. The top of the receiver is marked with a Mexican logo and 1931. I am assuming this is a small ring mauser and figuring a 93 or 95 stock will work. Can anyone verify that before I order a stock? I will say it is a really nice action. Excited to try it out.
More than likely your Mauser is a M1936 Mexican Mauser. I dont think a 93 or 95 stock will match up
Mexicans are M98 intermediate length, 8.500. Small ring = 1.300, large ring = 1.410

The receiver is dated 1931. They didn't make M1936's in 1931.
Craigster, you are correct........
Most likely a Mauser 1893?
Not if has a Mexican crest.
Mauser Model 1910?

Lol.

OP, a pic would make it so much easier to ID. Lotsa folk have trouble differentiating between Spanish and Mexican Mausers. Seen Belgians identified as Mexican by those "in the know."

Telling us the diameter of the front ring and that too will help.
spook1:

Measure the diameter of the receiver ring, and the distance between the screw holes on the bottom of the receiver.
I will measure them tonight.
It is a cock on close action so I was assuming a 1910 action and hoping a mauser 95 stock would work.
A Swedish Ma user stock is needed most likely. What I used for my Mex barreled action.
If it is a cock on close action, it ain't a 1910.
What z1r sez.

So now I'm confused. OP stated that it is stamped 1931 yet is COC. Both of my 1931 stamped are COO.

Hence my request for pics.
Exactly.
My point.
I will get pics and measurements tonight.

Exactly! We are in agreement.
Ok. I am an idiot. It is cock on opening. The center to center distance between the action screws is 7.620 or 7 5/8”. So is this a 1910 Mexican action? And will a 95 mauser stock work the best with a little fitting? Will a 96 stock work as well?

Thanks for the Help guys and sorry for giving false information above about the cocking.
The battery for my caliper is dead so I didn’t measure the receiver ring diameter
So do I need a 95 mauser stock? Would the bell and Carlson 96 stock work? They have a sale going on right now
You tell us.

How about contacting B&C and asking them if either of those stocks would work for a small ring Mexican (1910 ?).

As far as I can tell, the OP still doesn't know/can't tell us what he has.
And doesn't want to provide the means for the forum to help. This kinda crap tires me. He's on his own.
Thanks for the link craigster. That explains it.
