Siamese Mauser 45-70 - 04/29/20
I found this thumper down at the local gun store. I've heard of these conversions that were common from the 1960s -80s, but this is the first I'd seen and handled.
I hate to see a butchered Mauser, but whoever did this one appears to have done it very well.
The fit and finish is outstanding. Action is slick, and the balance is absolutely perfect.
The full length stock lacks a barrel band, but is fully bedded to the tip and it seems very rigid.
There is not a single mark on the barrel, other than cartridge specification. Just the normal arsenal marks on the action.
Does anyone recognize the work?
Out here in the wide open west, a bolt action 45-70 is under-appreciated, and the price tag showed it.
I just need to find some scope mounts and a box of ammo and hopefully this rifle will cycle well!
