i've been loading for my 45 auto for awhile. want to start reloading for my 3" springfield 40 s&w. i load 200gr lead bullets in my 45. anyone out there load lead for their 40?

Sure I do. I'm using Laser Cast 180g slugs over Power Pistol in3 different handguns and it gives excellent velocity and accuracy.

Yes, not an issue.

I've had good luck with lead. Had some 140gr. that shot really well. I think they were made by Missouri Bullet Company.

i have loaded and fired a ton of 180 lead bullets out of a glock. Then listening to the issues, i replaced the glock barrel with a kkm and fired a bunch more.
Be careful on reloading .40 with range brass etc.
You will find it in all kinds of conditions given variences in the barrels it was fired in and tolerances not being the same.
I being me am very sensitive to putting a good taper crimp on the projectile. Set back is not good in .40 and can run the pressures way up.

Since i was fooling with a couple of glocks today, ammo loaded was 155grain silvertips at 1200fps per the lyman reloading manual. Not wimpy at all.

I have a springfield xd in .45, not .40 and have fired a lot of lead through it, in fact i think that's all that's been fired.
i don't know why 40 would be any different.
40 is a lot higher pressure round than the 45, so i mention crimp and avoiding setback agin.
