Spring break is April 12-18 next year. Wanting to take my son on a fishing trip.

Looking for suggestions for that timeframe. Thinking Texas to the Atlantic side Florida.

We have some experience with cobia, redfish, sea trout in the Cocoa beach area. Just wondering if they are other areas I should look into.

April 12-18
West coast of Florida at that time for reds and Tarpon.
for reds and specs laguna madre and baffin bay in tx
Head to Cabo. Airfare and hotel package deals can be had cheap and the fishing is some of the best there is. Marlin, Dorado, reef fish.... super reasonable charter rates.

There are lots of very good destinations in the southern part
of the country that time of year.
But if Florida is the place you want, id be looking hard at the
SW corner and the ten thousand islands area.
Id personaly be going to Chokoloskee and getting a very good guide like Steve Huff. You wont be dissapointed.

This right here for consistency.... Although the fishing has been on fire even further north.

CRS... If you decide on Mid-coast to S. Tx shoot me a PM and I can give you some guide recommendations.
Thanks for all the replies.
I will talk it over with my son and see what he thinking.

I had actually thought about Costa Rica, along with Cabo, but that is a little much. Texas appeals to me as it is a drive able destination.
I usually think bonefish in April, but that doesn't quite sound like what you're looking for. I've fished SW Fl my whole life, April can be a hit or miss month for tarpon, May, June, July are a little more solid, and for redfish, I like Aug and Sept. Although, April is a really good snook month. Mid April can also be a little early for tarpon in the keys.

I think you might like Mexico in mid April. You have a lot of options, you could fish the flats south of Cancun, you could fish from an island called Holbox for giant tarpon (big schools), or you could try Cabo for surf fishing and offshore. April is a prime month for a wide range of fishing there. The cost for fishing those places also isn't too crazy.
Haven't fished Holbox yet, but I can vouch for south of Cancun.

For several years, when I first started going to MX, used to surf cast plugs at night with a Mexican friend. We'd catch a lot of snook and occasionally other bigger hitters. But, growth in that area has about killed that opportunity. The resorts think they're keeping you "safe" by having guards prevent you from surf fishing at night.

Get a good ways south of there and you don't have that problem.
i go to las barriles mexico every April. cheap and good fishing.
