? for ruger 96/22 owners...

I tried posting this over in the rimfire area, ended up with zero posts, so I'll try it here.
I'm looking at a Ruger 96/22 22mag in the local gun shop, and when you push in the mag release, the lever opens up a little. Is it supposed to do that?

My 96/22m and 96/17 do that. I don't know if it matters?

Yep,
My 96/22 mag. dose the same thing. Dosen't bother me, and it's a great "shooter"
Am thinking it should make a great Jackrabbit gun!

just an fyi, but my 96/22 is the most accurate .22 i have ever fired. i re-worked that nasty looking club of a stock into something looking like the savage 99, stained it in a light oak color and removed the barrel band. i can shoot at the previous bullet hole at 25 yards and usually hit it. Could not be happier with a $175 investment. my wife has now claimed it and i may not see it again lol...
