First, I'll try and post a pic tonite.

Picked up my Mk XXII last week and got'er to the range Sunday, for too short a range session.

I mounted a M8 6x42 Leupie on it, I have not had the paralax adjusted. She's a perfect match for my Mk V Deluxe in 7-08. Some observations for those who haven't seen one up close and personal. Fit and finish are very nice. The stock isn't nearly as figured as a Mk V Deluxe, but isn't meant to be. Weatherby Mk XXII stocks are to be of the same grade as the Vangard Deluxe stocks. Bolt knob is plastic ... not wild about that, but not a deal breaker the polymer seems to be rather tough. Bolt lift is very short ... very Mk V-ish. Only real grip on looks and handling is the bolt handle could use to be bent down where it clears the stock. While I'm sure this is fine on a target gun, I think a hunting rifles bolt handle shouldn't stick out quite so far ... but again NOT a deal breaker.

Feeding is a little rough, but it is a new rifle and was getting smoother as the range session progressed. Extraction on the otherhand was a total PITA!! 2-3 extractions per magazine (of FIVE) failed to clear the magazine area. I believe some were popping straight up and failing back down into the magazine area some never had the gumption to make it that far. A few did manage to come out of the right side of the rifle, but didn't have much zing on them regardless with my efforts pulling the bolt back at varying speeds. I only wiped the bolt down prior to using it .. hopefully with a couple shots of gun scrubber and some light RemOil, this problem may go away.

The trigger, left some to be desired ... not what a expected on a rifle of this quality. Didn't use a pull gauge prior to the range session (didn't want to dry fire it ... being a rimfire and all), I now have a few spent casings. The trigger pull may have been as advertised (2.5 #), but there was a lotta creep in it. Much more than expected. But the trigger is adjustable $\:\)$ down to 2# (min safe listed by Weatherby) and has a sear engagment screw that I will dable with.

Sighted it in at 25 yards with Federal Bulk and thing were looking good ... no measurements, but still looking good. Moved to 50 yards and continued to sight in and by the end of my work groups expanded to OVER an inch ... not much but still over. Got serious with my shooting (by my own admission, I was not a rock steady as I have been in the past ... not that I'm all that steady to begin with $\:\)$ ) Groups with Federal Auto Match, and CCI Green Tag were in the 0.7 range and even with bulk Fed. it wasn't much worse (0.8-ish). When I got serious all groups were less than 0.8. Still not nearly as good as the test target, which was around 0.2! Less than 0.5 and I'll be happy. I believe these groups are easily achievable with a properly adjusted scope (don't know how much variability this introduced) and some trigger work! If I get the extraction issues figured out she's a keeper, but I was honestly expecting no issues outta the box. OH WELL .. sigh ... I was hoping for a little better than an expensive 77/22.

Overall, it is a fine firearm and worth the $775 sticker. Took awhile for the consignment items to go, but I think she's worth the wait ... time will tell for sure ...

I'll try and get some pics, didn't save the targets, but hopfully if the weather is nice I'll have her out again this week-end! $\:\)$ Here's to crossin' the fingers.
