I have what I believe to be a 1977 Marlin 39A. It was in my extended family and was seldom used. I'd say 95% plus on wood and metal. It's just not my think so I'm thinking of selling and wondering about asking price. Also how much should I ask for shipping and what shipping method is best? I'm not sure how to pack since I don't have a box. Thanks in advance.

A lot has to do with your locality as to how much it's worth. I'd stick with selling it locally to avoid breaking any interstate gun laws or some individual ATF agent's perception of same. Around here, you could probably get $400 for such a gun if you were patient. $300 if you wanted to turn it by the weekend. The ones without safeties are worth a premium.

$350 to $400 is about right depending on the exact condition.
