A 12" twist will run 80`s handily. So yes, a 10 will get you there.

Should be fine. My 240 is a 1:10, and my intentions are 95's and 100's. One typically encounters issues when the slugs get exceptionally long. Sort of the difference between 2 inch high spining top and a 10 inch tall stick of wood. Going to have to really get the stick going to keep it balanced

No doubt. A 1-10 twist should stabilize anything up to about 100 grains. Heck, for an 80 grain bullet, even a 1-14 twist is adequate most of the time even at the much slower PPC/BR velocities. In your 6 rem you got nothing to worry about twist-wise.

a one in ten twist is just fine... I have two with one in 7 twists on them.. they can take the long 115 grain Berger match bullets easily...

Welcome to the forum nvhunter.

What is the competitive shooting that you might use an 80 gr 6mm bullet for?

While there is a formula for adequate twists you can just know that longer bullets require faster twists. The 1-10 twist is quite useful and it drove the 243 Winchester to the top to stay.

Much depends upon the specifics of the competition. For instance for 200 yd position bullseye matches I first chose the 243 and then the 6mm Rem. Intl. (1-10") back in the early 60's. Today for just that match I would still stay with the 6mm but even a slightly smaller case than the Intl's would be something that I might look at.

One can get to fine detail on it.
