Great looking mount, that bird's colors are killer.

Looks to be a SoDak bird. How was the Spring season?

The season was down for all the outfitters. I feel bad for them the weather really raised hell with the migration.
We had one good day of weather while out there. Day one mid 40's and cloudy. day 2 50 mph sustained winds all day. we couldnt keed the decoys upright and the birds where very skiddish.
Day 3 woke up to 5 inches of snow howling winds and no let up in sight.
Kill total was 47 birds.
After talking to many outfitters avg day kills from Missouri through south dakota where down to about 12 per day per field.
That is rough.
Word has it many may not be in buisness next year due to alot of cancled hunts this year and the poor economy.
But I will be there gun in hand ready to do my part.

That's a very nice looking mount...very lifelike, and excellent colors on the plumage.

ClayCrusher,

Excellent looking whitebelly phase! The spring was tough for sure with the adults in the majority of the migration pulling the few juvies backup.

It is Nice to see another Snow/Blue hunter on the campfire!!!

Soooo what general area do you hunt in and what kind of spread do you like the most? I'll be downstairs tonight once again painting some new heads for the socks.

Wabo,
I have hunted the mound city area a number of times but have moved to south dakota for most of the spring hunting now.
We normally hunt from a 50 mile radius around the desmet area.

We have been running with GHG full bodies with spread size from 350 to 1000. The last couple years the small sprerads seemed to draw better.

I sure hope next spring is a little more stable then this past one.
