I'm looking for a review form anyone whoo actualy owns one. I am interested in either the modle 48 or the custom limited production rifle.

Are they worth the price?
Would you hunt with them or just buy for the investment?
please give honest opinion.

feel free to send a p.m. if you don't want to post in public.

Thanks for the help.

hemi82, just read your other post on getting rid of the Kimber and moving to the Nosler. Probably one of the best moves you could make. The Kimber I had would not shoot and the factory was no help, guy I sold it to sent it back to them twice and it shot worse so both of us sold it for a loss. Now you have a quality rifle with backing of an excellent crew at Nosler. Let us know how it shoots.Rick.

I was in your same situation a week ago. I decided to buy one and have to say that the staff at Nosler are top notch. I received the rifle a week ago and was very pleased with the feel and look, but the barrel had a few small scratches on it. Part of me was saying no big deal it will get more scratches in the woods, but the other side was saying....you just paid a good bit of money for this rifle, so it should be perfect from the start. I must say that it appeared as though the blemishes were from shipping. The box looked as though UPS ignored the fragile sticker on the box. Anyway I called the guys at Nosler and receieved a return authorization within hours. So now I am waiting for the rifle to be sent back so that I can shoot it. The gun feels and looks high qaulity. I have never heard anything bad about them. You will pay a little more ordering direct versus buying it from somewhere like Cabelas, but has been worth it from my experience. I will post pics and comments once I bring it to the range.

Coonbutt,

I am interested in hearing about how Nosler supports you in this purchase.

Part of not hearing much about them is due to there not being that many of them "out there". Those I have seen have been in Nosler booths at shows. Did you buy the NCR or the M48?

Jim,

I purchased the model 48 in 300 WSM, has Talley S.S. rings and bases and Swarovski AV 3-10x42. The model 48 appealed to me because I wanted a rifle that would be very durable..i.e synthetic stock. The NCR is beautiful and with the scope I purchased I could have boughtthe NCR ready-to-hunt for about the same price or a little more. To show how accomidating the guys at Nosler are...I wanted the rings and bases to match the finish of the rifle (sniper grey). I mentioned this to Gary at Nosler and he offered to send them to the shop they use and then mount the scope on the rifle once the rings and bases were finished being powder coated. I payed the powder coating company directly so Nosler did not make anything on the deal. The rifle was delivered bore sighted. Now waiting for it to come back so that I can bring it to the range. Will post pics soon.

CB,

Well good on them for helping you to get what you wanted. I hope the rifle works for you, and is "lucky" in the field. ;\)

Most rifles don't shoot well with loose scopes.

Hopefully Nosler has solved this problem by installing the bases.

The one thing I do not like about the rifle is the smooth ness of the stock... Seems to me it could easily slip out of ones hands if it was wet or covered in blood!

Wet I could understand - blood on my hands would normally mean that I've killed something and am field dressing it, thus not needing to hold the rifle any longer. grin.

I just got my Model 48 to the range yesterday with some 180 Ballistic tip reloads. I didn't have a steady rest and it was pretty windy but it still managed to shoot around 1 inch groups. Felt recoil is alot less than I expected and every round fed very smooth. This rifle is a definate keeper and I look forward to taking hunting this fall.
