If you had a full stocked (mannlicher) Mark X (mauser) with Exhibition Grade Bastogne Walnut and a 20" barrel (not square bridge) chambered in 9.3 x 62 which mounts and scope would you go with?

I was thinking about Leupold 2 piece mounts and a European Leupold 1.25-4 20mm but wanted some other opinions. I will be using this rifle hopefully for plains game,Moose,Hogs and Deer.

Thanks,

Robert

I think you're right on with the scope you're considering.
I'm a fixed power guy, and would go with a straight Leupold 4x or 6x, but that low powered variable you mention would be great. Is the scope you're considering a 1" tube or a 30mm tube? I prefer 1" tubes because I think they look better on a fine rifle, as you have.

Bruz,

I, too, own a Interarms Mk-X mannlicher in 9.3x62. I have a Leuplold 3x-9x w/German #1 reticle. Only because I put it on there when I built the gun to work up loads with. But eventually, mine will wear Leupold 3x w/German #4a. (Or as Leupld calls it: European post & crosshair.)

If you are like most of the others hanging around here, you likely have other rifles for longer range work. Thus, a 3x is more than adequate. \:\)

I'm thinking of one of three. A 2.5x El paso Weaver w/std dplx,a 4x El Paso Weaver w/post and crosshair,or a 4.75x40 Weaver GS w/std dplx. Definitely seems your in the right power range for what you'll be hunting.

Hey Bruzer, sorry, the 3 scopes I mentioned are the ones I'm considering for my 20"bbl Mauser in 9.3x62. Just wanted to give you an idea on what others might use.

3x9 Leupold fits most bills. If you have irons, I would go with Talley QDs.
