Or is this forum just for the high end singles?

Got one in .357 max/20 ga but that's it currently. It is a tackdriver too. They just lack the style and class of the others. For a utilitarian standpoint, they're great but I like that extr touch the #1's bring to the table.

I've got a NEF in .223 with a synthetic stock. Mounted a 2.5-10x Tasco scope on it.

It shoots into an inch at 100 yards with Wolf 55 gr. HP ammo.

The trigger could be lighter, but it's reasonably crisp. Total investment was $165 for the rifle (used, maybe one box of shells through it) and $75 for the scope. And 10 bucks for the rings.

Plus, now I can get shotgun or rifle barrels for very little extra.

I was sorta kidding but I have a Rossi 243 that we have just now got to shooting straight enough to hunt with.

I like the classy look of the nice singles as well.

I like the look of the Remington/Spartin singles for a lot less money.

Got a NEF in .357 mag. I got it to shoot .38 specials in, but it sure isn't a tack driver with those.

One day, I'll get around to putting some full-house .357 through it to see if things improve.

It's a truck gun, and good enough for that.

NEF in 17HMR, bought used for $110, put an old scope I had lying around on it and have used at the in-laws for ground squirrel patrol ever since. Not pretty but it works great. Hard to beat the price/fun ratio with these.

We bought a youth stocked Rossi 'matched pair' for my son's birthday in Mar. 2007. 223 and 20 ga for about $219. The rifle barrel wears a Weaver 3X9 and so far has worked well for hunting groundhogs, and practice. With the shotgun barrel, he's hunted squirrels and turkeys. It's a nice size for a youngster, light, with little recoil.

I just kinda of stabbed my finger in the reloading manual for a middle of the road 223 load. Dang if I didnt' hit one that puts 3 shots in .75 inches at 100.

When my son-in-law got back from his second deployment to Iraq
(Marine Recon) he needed a rifle to hunt with here in Alabama.
I went to my gunsmiths shop to see what he had In the rack for sale.He pointed out a NEW N.E.F. stainless 30-06 he had,
He told me for the money they were the best deal he had in the store.I bought it with a Simmons 3x9 scope, mounts and a box of Remington 165 gr. core-lokts for 3 bills even.He has taken 3 decent bucks in 2 seasons and it is his prized possession now.

Have a heavy-barreled NEF in 223 that will put 'em inside an inch @ 100 yds. with just about any load, shoots ragged hole groups with stuff it really likes. Wanted another 223, the price was right. I try not to spend much time looking at it.

A farmer cousin has a nifty Savage 219 in 22 Hornet. So far he has resisted my efforts to pry it away from him, doesn't stop me from trying.

Worst part, it was given to him years ago by an old goat that had no idea what it was. Second worst part, he lugs it around in his truck all year like it was an extra jack handle.

Last spring at my club they raffled of a Rossi 20ga/22 youth gun. A friend won it and let me play with it. I didn't shoot the 20 ga but I put a 4x nikon on the 22 barrel and shot it one afternoon.

Shot well quite a few groups under an inch at 50 yds and to be frank it might have done better, but it was the youth model and the stock was so short it was a little hard to shoot.

My experince was pretty limited but my general feeling was similar to the general NEF coments. Its no work of art, but it worked well, perhaps as well as guns costing more. Probably a lot fewer options for customization with the Rossi.
