I posted this first under General Big Game but am so excited I thought I better post it here too. After only two years of trying I drew a cow moose tag for an area not 20 miles from my home. I hope to bust a big cow with my 35 Whelen shooting the 280 grain, Lyman 3589 solid point bullet. Yahoo. I can hardly wait.

I killed a very small bull in Idaho down near Elk Summit about 24 years ago. Did that with a 338 Winchester and was 8 miles from the nearest road. This time I am going to use my 35 Whelen with 3589 cast bullets made from wheelweights. I am at work so don't have access to the exact load. I do recall that I use dacron in the case but that's it for my memory. I am a lot older than I was 24 years ago and even though we didn't have to back pack the bull out (used an outfitter with horses), I do know that this one will be near the road or it won't get shot!
