Fun pics, thanks for sharing.

But, gosh, none of those guys have scopes on their rifles. and none of them are wearing the latest camo pattern. Wonder how they ever happened to kill deer?

PS: Bet they forgot and left their GPS's at home, too!

PPS: didn't anyone ever SMILE back then??

Yeah buddy. I can totally relate. I generally start commenting to friends, family and associates around the first week of February that its only 8 months till bow season. I try to fill up the time doing load testing, hog hunting and varmint hunting. Luckily this year I have a 7 day elk hunt scheduled for Sept. which means I will get a nine day jump on the season. I work my ass off for the first nine months out of the year so I can hunt the last three months. I mangaed to hunt about 30 days out of the +/- 60day rifle season last year.

ah, the frozen deer trick.

my old man tied an illegal field dressed doe with her back to a tree like she was sitting in a chair & left her for the night. Came back the next day & took Mrs perma sit to his big tilt bed equipment truck, put a big hooded orange parka on her & sat her upright in the passenger seat with the parka hood up covering her snout.

He stopped at a filling station to put fuel on & the atendent at the station pointed at "the guy in the truck" & said "he sure looks cold" Dad replied, "yeah, he's froze pretty solid" Paid for his gas & finished the trip home.

I've been looking, I didn't think it was all 1895s... one had to be an 8....

Jim, I collect photos of hunters with savage rifles. Most of them come with little or no info on people or places or dates, which is sad.

I do come across nonsavage pics that I like and save like the ones above, but the ones I purchase have the 99/1899.

These have all been shared at the savage forums with lots of others.

these where taken in MN

cousin Tom

Other camp 99 deer

Grogel - when I posed the question it was based on the size of the deer. They were large enough I thought they might have come from the north country. Also thought the initial group of pictures might have been from old family album.

Now I understand the common thread.

I notice the one picture mentions Riggall. Would this have been Bert Riggall who I believe was an early Alberta hunter of note?

I figured that the Riggall photo was the name of the photography studio. But Its hard to say. That is one of my favorite photos.
