Looking for a new .22 bolt action. Narrowed it down to these two. If you got one and have any imput would it would be appreciated.

Just "my 2cents" worth......the CZ is probably the way to go - should be able to pick up a bit cheaper than a ruger and out of the box accurracy is tough to beat in this price range. I have both and have been around a bunch of both and the Ruger can shoot but typically takes more effort to get where a CZ usually is from the start (these are generalities as I have seen exceptions on both sides). I do, however, like both and each has it's pros and cons.

I like the 77-22 because of the 10 shot rotary magazine, scope rings and IMO a better quality of finish. Mine needed some trigger work and ammo selecting before it would shoot almost as good as a CZ that is out of the box stock. I still like the 77-22 best and mine will hit a squirrel head at up to around 70 yards all day if I do my part but those CZs are flat out accurate. Either one's a good choice.

I'VE GOT THE 77/22 WITH THE LAMINATED STOCK, STAINLESS ACTION, AND THE HEAVY STAINLESS BARREL. I'VE HAD IT A LONG TIME, AND SHOT IT A BUNCH. IT'S ACCURATE, AND WELL-MADE. THE SCOPE RINGS THAT COME WITH THE RIFLE MOUNT UP SOLIDLY. IT HAS A BIG RIFLE 'FEEL'. I HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THIS RIFLE, AND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH IT. GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE.

CZ--bought my girlfriend a lefthanded American, she bought me a right handed one, both are pretty dang accurate and better than decent wood.
Only gripe is that the bolt handle goes so high as to prohibit low mounting of 4x32 scopes.

I have both also and my experience mirrors PennDog, Jim, and 43. Kinda depends on what you want it for also. I shoot a lot of colony varmints and like the 10-shot Ruger mag. I've put more money into the 77/22 also. Bolt work, recrown, and trigger. Someday I might just slap a Green Mtn barrel on it. All-around for fit and function the 77 might edge out the CZ, but the CZ shoots like a champ with only some trigger work.

I picked up a georgeous little 452 American at Cabelas. I don't think they knew what they had. Beautiful wood, deep blue finish. Threw on some CZ rings, and a Leupt 3.5x10 Target Dot. It shoots 1/4" or smaller with junk Fed. and Rem. all day long. I couldn't be happier! Good luck finding your new shooter.

CZ all the way! I have had both, I sold the the 77-22 and kept the CZ if that tells you anything.

Let's see ... I don't know you from Peter ... so it doesn't tell me poopie. Other than you have an opinion ... BTW, so does Peter. 
77/22 ... nuttin' against the CZ. Check'em out and thought about it ... but couldn't get past the trigger guard ... appears to be made in a HS metal shop class. Sure the rifles are fine shooters, but is that all there is to a rifle? If so, how many CZ shooters are dedicated Savage fans?

I have the CZ 452 american, reason it came in southpaw version and was fairly cheap compared to alternatives. ie Cooper or Anshoutz. Not disappointed it in though. Shoots very accurate. Depending on you perspective, the CZ 452 has McMillan stock option for it whereas not for the Ruger 77/22. Yeah the cheap triggerguard bothers me too, but the remedy should be arrive soon to fix that. AS Seven Heaven, mention the safety works backwards compare to what most of us are use to.
No experience with Ruger 77/22, but I wish they'd make one in southpaw config as I'd buy one. Reason: like to shoot rimfires as they're fun and cheap to shoot.

Have had two 77/22's and both have shot lights out. Current 77/22 shoots 1/2" 50 yard five shot groups with cheap American Eagle ammo. Can't ask for more than that!

Had a CZ in 17 MK11, and have a Ruger 77/17HMR. Will keep the Ruger forever. The CZ went down the road. Aucurate it was, but just couldn't like the backwards saifty and "cheesey" trigger guard. The flush fitting Ruger rotory mag is a big plus.

The saftey is screwy and the trigger gaurd looks cheap but they shoot lights out.
If you are going to use it for hunting at least you won't feel bad when you ding up the trigger gaurd.

No experience with CZ. Have had a 77/22 for 5+ years and am completely happy with it. Not sure how many Ruger whatevers I have (it's a few) but I can't remember having a single problem with any of them. Sounds like you won't go wrong either way.

CZ 452's are hard to beat for the price. They shoot Federal 38gr holes with tight groups all day long. I have the full stock, american stock, and a synthetic one (Sport). Including a left hand model, all shoot very well, the Sport shoots dime size groups at 100M with Federal American Eagle 38gr. Hard to beat that for the price.

I will say, that I really don't like the trigger guard ('tis the biggest reason I never bought and tried one, that and my 77/22 are just fine for me) ... I will give it prop's in the fact I think a friggin' truck could roll over it and NOT break it!! Sturdy ... but so unsightly.
With all that said I would probably buy one for my nephew's first rifle ... just because it does look rugged and is much less than a 77/22. The backwards safety doesn't bother me too much. My first and only bolt rifle for a long time was an older Marlin model 25 and it has a "backwards safety". Actually when the time comes for his first rifle (when his parents tell me he can have one) it may be my 77/22, assuming my XXII lives up to the expectations I have for it.

I have no love for any rifle with a projecting magazine, so I like the lines of the 77/22. I had to put a 0.007 shim in the bolt of my 77 to generate good accuracy (headspace), but it shoots right with my Anschutz after that fix. They are all ammo specific, with my 77/22 liking Federal American Eagles and Winchester Power points. Doesn't like CCI's, any ultra high vel stuff, or Remington ammo. One can easily workup the 77/22 triggers too with nothing more that a fine oil stone for the sear and a dremel tool on the spring. And it is American made.
